Privacy Policy
Musicianship Trainer · Last updated: 21 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Musicianship Trainer ("the App", "we", "us"), made by Musicmaster Education
Limited, handles information when you use the App. Musicianship Trainer helps students prepare for the
musicianship sections of NZMEB piano exams with practice examples, feedback and practice exams.
In short: what you enter and what the App records stays on your device. We do not collect,
receive or store any personal information on our own servers, we do not use analytics or advertising, and we
do not sell or share your information with anyone.
Information Stored on Your Device
- Settings. The App stores your settings (for example age group, backgrounds, rhythm
tolerance and keyboard preferences) on your device.
- Licence email (optional). Teachers who have been given a free licence can enter their
email address in the App's Configuration screen. It is stored only on your device and is checked, on your
device, against the App's list of licensed teacher emails. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- Answers and progress. The App stores your answers and results (for example practice
exam answers) on your device so they can be shown back to you.
- Downloaded content. Exercise content, help text and audio instructions downloaded by the
App are saved on your device so they load quickly next time.
Like other app data, this information may be included in your device's own backups (for example an iCloud
or computer backup), which are managed by Apple and by you, not by us.
Microphone, Recordings and Tapping
- Microphone. If you choose to record your playing on your own acoustic instrument, the App
asks for microphone access so it can make that recording. The recording is kept on your device so you can
listen back to it, and is not uploaded or shared.
- Rhythm tapping and the on-screen keyboard. When you tap a rhythm or play the App's
on-screen keyboard, the timing and notes are analysed on your device to give you feedback. They are not sent
anywhere.
Content and Online Services
- Exercise content. The App downloads its exercises, help text and audio instructions from
our content files hosted on Google services. These downloads do not include any information about you, but as
with any internet request, Google's servers receive your device's network (IP) address in order to respond.
- Spoken instructions. Some instructions are read aloud using Google's text-to-speech
service. Only the App's instruction text is sent to be spoken; no information about you is included.
Purchases
- Subscriptions. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We
never see or store your payment details. The App checks your subscription receipt with Apple so it can unlock
the App's content.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. Use of the App is subject to Apple's
standard Terms of Use (EULA).
What We Do Not Do
- We do not collect or receive your personal information on our own servers.
- We do not use analytics, tracking or advertising services in the App, and we do not track you across
other apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share your information with anyone.
If you choose to share crash reports and app analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple
may provide us with anonymous crash and usage information. This is controlled by you in your device's Settings
and is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Musicianship Trainer is designed for music students of all ages, including children practising with a
parent, guardian or teacher. Because the App keeps information on the device and does not send personal
information to us or to anyone else, we do not collect personal information from children. We recommend that a
parent or guardian sets up the App for younger children.
Deleting Your Information
- Deleting the App removes the settings, answers, recordings and downloaded content stored on your
device.
- You can turn microphone access off at any time in your device's Settings, although the App will then not be
able to record your acoustic playing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App gains new features. Changes will
be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
